Wishing Stones at JVC during the Corona Crisis
One of our fourth graders recently came to us with a wonderful idea: Currently, with the exception of emergency care, no children are allowed on Jules Verne Campus. We miss the learning partners as much as they miss us! We've received countless messages about how much our JVC children want to get back to everyday life on Campus.
Therefore, even though no children are allowed to visit JVC themselves at the moment, we would like to bring a little "life" back into the learning house and take up our learning partner's idea of placing "wishing stones" in front of the entrance gate at Jules Verne Campus.
"Wishing stones" are stones that are painted, decorated or written on with a few words of encouragement by the learning partners. These stones are to remind our children that they are loved and missed and that they are not alone in these uncertain times. Not only is it fun to express your feelings and get creative, but when others walk by the JVC gate, they can enjoy all the stones and messages.
Feel free to stop by the JVC at any time during a walk (please remember the exit restriction rules!) and bring an individually painted wishing stone with you. You can leave it in front of the entrance gate, but please keep a safe distance from everyone else who might be there. We will bring the stones into the JVC grounds behind the gate regularly, creating a "line of welcome" from the gate to the front door of the learning house. This way, all our JVC children can walk along this welcome line as soon as they are allowed to return to the learning house - as a special appreciation of returning to their friends, classmates and "being" at school again!
I hope that we’ll all be back on Campus soon, but at the same time, my first “wishing stone” will be that each and every Jules Verne child stays healthy and feels loved and supported during this time.
