SBW SPARK Week in April 2023!
We are pleased that as things loosen up again after a forced break due to Corona, live exchanges and interactions with our Swiss school family, SBW Haus des Lernens, are possible again, as are live lectures for parents. The common “DNA” within the SBW school family in terms of pedagogy is always visible with our educational philosophy and Fraktal. To familiarize yourself with our SBW approach or simply refresh your memory if you’re already familiar with it, the Future Skills Booklet and SBW Booklet can be found under “Infos” on SchulApp and at the following links on our website:

During the week from April 17-21, 2023, we’ll re-visit, present, and discuss our unique educational approach with several Swiss guests during SBW SPARK Week. The aim of the week is to inspire participants and start up the flame needed to drive our JVC balloon into a bright future! First, a learning group of ninth graders from the Talent Campus Winterthur will visit us at JVC, accompanied by former Jules Verne Campus Pedagogical Head, Rolf Schönenberger. Our Gymnasium groups will host our guests for a day of learning at JVC on Monday, then the group will stay overnight at JVC after other stops in Germany on Thursday. Second, SBW Co-founder, Christoph Bornhauser, who is actually retired, will present two new lectures for parents to the JVC family:
- Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 7:00 pm in the Oasis: Talent Development during Puberty (Poster)
- Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 7:00 pm in the Oasis: Artificial Intelligence: How is it changing education? (Poster)
Please see the posters links above for more information. The lectures are for JVC staff, learning partners, and registered JVC or external parents of children of all ages.
Please register here.
The Thursday lecture will begin with a “Switzerland meets Bavaria” Happy Hour from 5:30 pm on our Oasis for parents, our TCB Winterthur visitors, and our own Grammar School learning partners. The lectures will be held in German (with a Swiss accent), but we can explain and discuss the contents in both English and German if the contents are not clear. After the events, we will also provide a link to the filmed lectures, likely including English subtitles.
We look forward to seeing you at Jules Verne Campus soon for the events!
