Sailing Adventure to France
Our Mars and Earth learning partners had an unforgettable week on the high seas! The trip was organized by our French learning guide, Mme Masquelier: starting in Munich, the excited learning partners travelled via Paris to Lorient, where they were warmly welcomed by the crew. Together, the learning partners sailed through breathtaking landscapes, encountered dolphins in the glowing plankton and mastered stormy seas in the English Channel. After a long night with some seasickness, the sea calmed down and the group worked hard during the day helping with the sails, keeping log entries and planning the course. In addition to exciting activities such as knot tying and navigation, there were relaxed evenings and inspiring conversations about protecting the oceans. On the last day, the group sailed towards Le Havre despite strong headwinds and waves, feeling like true sea dogs by then. The return journey took them via Paris with a short sightseeing stop back to Munich – with great memories, improved French skills and lots of new sailing experiences up their sleeves. The experience enabled JVC youths to gain hands-on future skills such as resilience, global identity, and thinking out of the box – skills and stories for a lifetime! Without the dedication of our learning guides, Laetitia Masquelier and Tom Keat, as well as the organization Grand voilier École, this amazing adventure would not have been possible.
