“gute gesunde Schule“ Award Won Again in 2024!

We are delighted that the efforts to win the "gute gesunde Schule” (good, healthy school) award in Bavaria have also borne fruit in 2024. The recognition for the entire JVC team and especially for Markus Ratzinger and Raphaela Breuer, who prepared the application, is well deserved. The invitation to the award ceremony in November 2024 in the Allerheiligen Hofkirche of the Munich Residence is a great honor. Congratulations!
For the application for the continuation of the "gute gesunde Schule" award, we have taken up “10/TEN” as our anniversary theme for 2023/2024 and included ten great things that we do every day on Campus to support and promote the mental and psychological well-being of our learning partners and guides:

For the application for the continuation of the "gute gesunde Schule" award, we have taken up “10/TEN” as our anniversary theme for 2023/2024 and included ten great things that we do every day on Campus to support and promote the mental and psychological well-being of our learning partners and guides:

  • Campus environment and culture: Our main goal is to create a supportive and positive Campus culture based on respect, trust and social bonds. We integrate anti-bullying programs and conflict resolution measures such as "Strong even without Muckis" as early as in grades 1 and 2. We also maintain open and regular communication through appointments such as the Compass meeting in November, the learning development meeting in February and another Compass meeting in July.
  • Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs: We integrate SEL programs into our curriculum to promote emotional intelligence, social skills and interpersonal relationships. Our learning guides are trained to incorporate SEL principles into the classroom, and our dedicated coordinator shares her knowledge with other learning guides and has developed a SEN toolbox.
  • Stress prevention: We reduce exam pressure and performance orientation through stress-reducing activities such as relaxation exercises, meditation and breathing techniques. Mrs. Kötting worked with a "resilience kit" for the children that which contains various methods for coping with stress.
  • Support during transitions: We accompany and support transitions such as the change from Elementary School to Secondary School, e.g., through Discovery Days at the Grammar School and open discussions with learning partners and parents.
  • Counseling services: We provide access to school-based counseling services for learning partners, parents and learning coaches to assist with personal, academic, or social challenges.
  • Health promotion: We promote a healthy lifestyle through a balanced diet, plenty of exercise and sufficient sleep. Our daily exercise class and the regionally freshly prepared meals in our Oasis contribute to this.
  • Community participation:Jules Verne Gymnasium has been awarded the "School without Racism - School with Courage" seal. Our Grammar School teens occupied themselves with diversity, then chose to go for, and get, this certificate.
  • Mindfulness and relaxation techniques: We incorporate mindfulness and relaxation techniques to reduce stress and promote concentration into our daily routine. Mrs. Kötting offers workshops in which the children can learn various relaxation techniques and develop a personal tool for coping with stress. In April 2024, we also offered an anniversary lecture on sleep by SBW co-founder Christoph Bornhauser.
  • Individualization: Our school concept ensures that the needs of all learning partners are considered. This includes individualized learning approaches and measures that create a supportive school environment.
  • Learning guide health: The health of our learning guides is just as important as that of our children. We offer various options for a healthy work-life balance, such as healthy chairs in the input rooms and wellness items in the staff toilets. We also organize an annual New Year's dinner in January, a joint teacher marathon and skiing outings. A healthy work-life balance is also the aim of offers such as a Job Bike, membership in Urban Sports Club, and the free use of sports facilities on Campus such as the fitness room and dance classes for employees.

We are proud of the measures mentioned above: we know from our parent and employee surveys that health and fitness are not just factors that go hand in hand with success and performance. They are prerequisites for achieving our goals and daring to do what we dream of!
