DIVERSITY IN MOTION

We have a new annual theme for 2020/2021: Diversity in Motion. When George Floyd was needlessly killed by police officers, and just recently, when in my home state of Wisconsin, Jacob Black was shot seven times in the back, followed by a further two deaths in a riot, it reconfirms that diversity feels right, right now. Diversity needs to move forward. This is in harmony with our values at Jules Verne Campus, in harmony with the uncertain times now. How can we help children—little ones in the Kindergarten all the way to teenagers, emerging young adults—to react to an ever-changing, uncertain world not by reacting in fear and intolerance but by joining hands—or in the time of Corona—touching elbows? As JVC is also a school in movement, there’s another take on the theme: Diversity in motion. What are the different ways we can move our bodies, be creative, and stay vital? What do diversity and movement have in common? These are the questions that I’ve invited the entire JVC team to brainstorm on and depict on our Oasis mural wall. Have a look at the beautiful results in the Oasis when you’re here on Campus for the upcoming parents’ evenings. In our first edition of the Campus News, we’ll share the many projects on Campus that arose from the brainstorming with you.
